Madrid, Spain
Madrid is the capital of Spain and is the largest city. We flew in and out of Madrid and were able to explore by spending our last night in Spain there.
The last night in Spain is hazy for me. The last few days of the trip, after Morocco, I thought I had bad allergies (nose running, coughing, sneezing). This made my time in Madrid in a word, miserable.

Maxwell and I did almost no exploring. We went to dinner during the evening and had to go home right afterward. Dinner was delicious per usual even though we did not go anywhere special. Luckily our group mates were able to meet up with other friends that were there and got to do and see more than we did! This is a benefit to traveling in groups- if someone is not feeling well or up to doing any activities, there is always someone else to accompany the (healthy/active) individuals!
In the limited amount of (sick) exploring I did, we made sure to go to the Plaza Mayor! Its the central square and it was still decorated with lights from the New Years celebration. It was a huge space that I could barely imagine being filled with people, but on all major holidays- it is!

One of the many butcheries in Madrid
Maxwell loved the presence of high quality meat everywhere. Although I found the carcasses of animals hanging about somewhat unappetizing, it made Maxwell’s mouth water.
I wish to explore Madrid more and feel healthy while doing it. Oh well… guess we have to go back to Spain 🙂
(When I got home- turns out I had a severe sinus infection. At least I know I wasn’t making up not feeling well and there was a reason!)
