Castillo de Castellar de la Frontera
The hike to the Castillo de Castellar was a beautiful one. The day was great, opting outside was ideal, and the company was even better. We did it on New Years Day, which was necessary because of the evening we had the night before.
It was a moderate hike that had paths that were both dirt and stone paved. It gave me flashbacks to the Inca Trail…
The views on the way up to the castle were gorgeous.
Once we got to the castle, the Spanish architecture was evident. Amazing stonework was the centerpiece of the castle. There is a small village that still has residents It would be a great place for a quaint honeymoon. Spain is just plain romantic.
The sun was setting as we descended and it was awe-inspiring. It was one of those out of body moments, for me, that I looked at my surroundings and thought, How am I so lucky?
If someone was to tell me 3 years ago that I would be spending the holidays in Spain with my new husband and best friends, I would have thought they were insane. Remember, 3 years ago- before Maxwell- I did not even have my passport. So much has changed with this wonderful man in my life and I have changed and grown as a person.
(This post is light on words because the pictures say enough, right?)
